International Telecommunication Union (ITU) announced eKrishok, an initiative of Bangladesh Institute of ICT in Development (BIID) as the Champion and finalists of the WSIS Prizes 2017 with over 1.1 million votes cast by WSIS stakeholder’s community. eKrishokis among those first five most voted in the category ICT Applications: E-Agriculture. ITU congratulated BIID on this amazing achievement and to share the excitement of promoting the recognition. BIID will be awarded with a Champion certificate from the ITU Secretary-General during the special event dedicated to the achievement, the WSIS Prizes 2017 Champion Ceremony, on Tuesday 13 June 2017 at Geneva, Switzerland. BIID has been facilitating eKrishok services to foster ICT enabled solutions for farmers and agro-businesses in Bangladesh since 2009. BIID will also organize a workshop on eKrishok at the WSIS Forum 2017 and showcase its services in the exhibition area at ITU Tower.
